Please be aware of the symptoms of Kennel Cough....it is very easily spread in club situations.
We have one Dog suffering at the moment (Thank You for letting me know) hopefully having no classes on the 15th will mean no other Dogs have come into contact with the virus.
*Dry hacking cough is the most common symptom
*Cough may sound like honking
*Retching
*Watery nasal discharge
*In mild cases, dogs would likely be active and eating normally
Kennel Cough is highly contagious, spread through the air by infected dogs sneezing and coughing. It can also spread through contact with contaminated surfaces and through direct contact.
Symptoms begin usually two to three days after exposure.
If you suspect your Dog has Kennel Cough....contact your Vet, by telephone, if they think a visit is necessary they may ask you to attend at a quiet time to risk further infection.
Do not walk your Dog, take your Dog to training classes or invite other Dogs into your home whilst it is infectious (usually 10-14 days)
There is a vaccine available (Via nasal drops) but, like human Flu vaccine it only protects against certain strains.
